History of
The Foundry

Built in 1865, The Foundry on the Fair Site was originally operated as a foundry for the casting of railroad spikes and flathead nails from cannonballs. The building fell into disuse, burned, and was later renovated to host the Strohaus throughout the 1982 World’s Fair.

Marianne Greene purchased the Foundry in 1993 with the hopes to give Knoxville a unique space to host catered weddings and events. The support from our community has been overwhelming since the first year of operations. The Greene family is truly grateful to the families, business, and organizations over the years that have helped to make this family business a success.

The Foundry offers event space for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s onsite catering can be customized to fit each group’s needs with accommodations seating up to 450 guests. Please send us an inquiry or give us a call for room capacities and layout information.
